Chain locker was created by Carol Shores
We have a Brewer 12.8 and would like to have two complete anchor systems on the bow. We have a Rocna with 100 feet of chain/120 feet of fiber and a Vulcan with 80 feet of chain and 120 feet of fiber. The chain locker is split by the stay sail mounting, and we can't get the rodes to pile into the chain locker without binding up. Does any one else carry this much anchor rode in a Brewer 12.8 chain locker? If so, how do you divide the two rodes? Photos would be very helpful.
thanks

I am not on the boat now, but hope to be later this week. Our B44 has a vertical board separating the two sides of the locker. Our main anchor (a Rocha) is on 200’ of all chain rhode and is our main anchor that “falls” into the starboard side of the locker. Our back up is a Danforth with about 10’ of chain and 175’ of nylon rhode that has to be coiled into the port side of the locker. I will try to send a photo.

Photo of our locker divider. We also mounted a roller at the bottom end of the hawse to make the chain fall smoother. We still have to sweep the mounded chain out of the way or it backs up in the hawse.

Below is a photo of the forward locker with a center divider board for two spare line and chain rodes. A separate deck opening on the port side allows one of the spare chain/line ride to be pulled up thru the deck pipe and attached to a backup anchor for use on the port roller.
The black pvc pipe in the photo carries the all-chain main anchor rode from the windlass through the upper forepeak locker to the chain locker under the v-berth.
The pvc pipe is connected to a chain flaker that is actually a repurposed windshield wiper motor with an extension arm to move the pvc pipe back and forth, flaking the chain as it comes in. The flaker motor is on the same circuit as the windlass “chain in” side so it only operates when the chain is being retrieved. In the photo the bow is to the right That is a spare anchor (#4) stored in the locker with the all chain main rode

The chain locker photo above was somehow rotated by the website?? The bow of the boat is not to the right, it is toward the top of the photo.
