My 42 Whitby ketch has a scrambled up electrical panel with the addition of solar and inverter monitors. I've spent the past decade sailing on a Bristol and there was a pretty straightforward logical panel ,with all the names and switches marked and circuit breakers that felt solid in my hand .
On my Whitby, I'm having a hard time making heads or tails of what switch goes where and which ones are working and even how to switch from AC to DC. does anyone have a lay out of the original electrical panel at least to show me which switches were supposed to be for what.
This might sound like kind of a dumb question but I'm struggling to get things running and the electrical power is part of my problem' thanks

Hi Mike,
When I first purchased Natalie M, a Whitby 42 #48, (formerly known as kenipshen) She too had a rats nest of wiring. I replaced the main panel with Blue sea AC/DC #8095. This fit nicely in the space vacated by the original panels. I hinged the supporting "door" so that it will swing down for accessibility. For the DC part of the system I purchased various colors of #10 AWG marine wire from a company called genuine dealz, and made a large harness that I led to the engine room. In the engine room, I tied the harness into the rest of the boat via several bus bars. It is important to label the connections on the bus to facilitate future trouble shooting. For the AC part of the system, there was good wiring and it mated up with the panel without much modification.
I hope this gets you started. I do not have any pictures of the install, but I am scheduled to make a trip to Natalie M in the very near future and I can take them then if you want.
We also installed enverters and a solar charging system. I can elaborate on this if you like.

Thanks
If you can .also send a picture of the port and starboard side of your steering pedestal and ID all the switches. Or better yet I'll send my current picture and you can help me ID the buttons and knobs that are not obvious
Thanks

Thanks a lot . I would certainly appreciate seeing pictures of what you done especially how those harnesses go together. I'm still trying to find the AC connections that come from the circuit breaker to the charger inverter which I'm replacing. Unfortunately the prior owner took the old unit out and didn't leave me much to go on. So what should be a simple job is much more difficult. Ahh, but those are the joys of boat ownership.

Bob and others ,
Just a follow up on my panel . After struggling to find those seemingly obsolete Airpak circuit breakers I think I am going to take your advice and consider the Blue Sea 8095 panel . However its mostly my AC side that is shot. Can you advise my on who you purchased your system from?
also my email is mjasko1@gmail.com and 864-616-9911
If I am able I will attached a few pictures of my pedestal which some of you my recognize. Unfortunately I am guessing at what a number of the knobs and buttons are supposed to service and since a number of mine are not functioning I cannot even test.
I would welcome anyone's best guess at which knob is supposed
to do what.
