Wind and solar electric generation

We plan to add a Leading Edge LE300 wind turbine to the mizzen and two 180W flexible SunPower-based (22% efficiency) solar panels on top of the bimini on "Next Horizon", our 1981 W42bs #214. This is to support our 200AH/day appetite (sail or anchor). I know there are mizzen-mounted wind tubines out there on W42s but searching this topic generates no results. I'm sure that's because there are NO problems with all those wind turbines, right? Well, I'd be interested in hearing any of your comments about wind generators, especially thoughts on mizzen mounting. Regarding flexible solar panels, prices are so profoundly low on Chinese products, and people vow about their reliability, so, I'm headed in that direction. Again, I'd like to hear any thoughts you have on the subject of flexible solar panels. Thanks!

Jim, Are you coming to the Rendezvous? We can talk then. We have a mizzen mast mounted D400 and, for reasons not here relevant, we threw a blade. When the unit became unbalanced, it had the mizzen mast dancing on deck -- obviously we were in high winds off shore when it happened. We have a triadic stay and we felt as if the whole rig were at risk. We were glad we had a way to stop the spinning, the electric brake was not strong enough. But the means by which we stopped the unit may also have caused the problem with the blade. We have not yet worked out a solution to the question. As you work through it, let me know how your thinking goes and I will do the same with you. Our boat will be at the Rendezvous, if you are coming. Fair winds, Hannah
