Bought a '75 Whitby 42 about a year ago. Lew and Deb's Free N Clear. The boat came with a microwave but there was really no good place to mount it. From previous experience, we lived aboard and cruised Escapades, our Irwin 41 for six years, we knew that we would use the microwave much more than the propane oven. And a four burner stove top is a waste of counter space. We very rarely used more than one burner, two at the most. So out with the propane stove and oven. In went a single burner conduction cook top freeing up a bunch of counter space. The oven was replaced with a combination microwave convection oven. The cook top is flat and can be used as counter space with some protection of the glass surface. Cook top and microwave will be powered with a 3000W sine wave inverter.
Next issue was the fridge. With the top opening it somewhat limited its use as counter space. The door on the front was so much smaller that the interior so to use the space fully, much of the content was invisible. So out came the fridge to be replaced with an under counter mini fridge. Big door, you can see the whole interior and it has a light. Fridge will be powered by a separate 400W sine wave inverter.
The cook top is under the coffee pot in the picture.
The pictures are a work in progress, still needs lots of finishing work.
