Gusher Bilge Pump

I have #79 and ask if all or any other WB42s have the Whaler Gusher #10 manual bilge pump mounted in the cockpit at the forward companion way? I’ve owned Horizons for 8 years, it came with the same pump which I replaced and installed a now hose. The gusher has worked in the past but the pump was designed for about ½ the head and lift required in this application and now it will not work. With or without a check valve, after priming and after inspecting for air leaks I get nothing.

Any input is welcome.

We had the same problem when we bought Sinbad hull #134. It's a easy fix. They sell a rebuild kit for the pump, available at West Marnie and others. The hardest part is getting the pump out. With that style of pump it is usually just the internal check valves that are bad.

Yes you can get a rebuild kit for the pump and probably that will repair it. If not just replace it with one of the plastic ones aas we did no problems. Make sure that your pick up tubes are not metal as this will corrode and leak in fact that could be your problem so check that out first.

Thank You All,

Must have sucked up some trash that jammed the internal check valve. What bothers me is the scars on my arms have just healed from instaling a new Gusher in 2009!
