In my experience I have no luck in finding a source for a replacement. Perhaps someone in the group has had the experience and can share it with us.
I googled for maxwell nillson V 3000 and the same again but V3000 and there is a lot of chatter out there about parts and even a complete one for sale. Sorry, I know this is not the answer you were hoping for. Anyone??? Thanks, Douglas

Hi,
The original manufacture is in New Zealand. The local USA guys are in CA. (they are not helpful)
They sand cast a new Gypsy and Cones for me. Really amazing!

CaptDuff,
MORE INFO: two more emails that I found. Nick Chaney and Crazy John crazyjohn@svsundancer.com
To all: S/V Sundancer, hull 272 1987 Brewer 12.8 has a Maxwell Nillson VWC-1000 with Patrick's problems. Maxwell does not want us to know that Nillson is alive and well, I think in Australia or New Zeland. Look them up on the internet for parts and support. They "Debbie" have been very helpful. My VWC-1000 had a single direction motor which a starter-generator shop rewired for bi-directional service. It works great.
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
AI had the VW3000 on Caribbean Soul and had the same issues with Maxwell. No parts no serice get a new one!!!! The Nillson's are great and can get you most any part you need. Here is some contact information:

I may regret not putting more money into my 3000. It is a very serious windlass!
Good Luck

Correction from last email:
