capns: we have a 1500 sprint windalss with 3/8 chain and picked up a 60lb Manson Supreme. my current chain length is too short (150ft) and I want to add at least another 100ft to the chain length. Appreciate your advise: \

1) have you had experience with a reliable chain connector or should I simply cut and reweld the added chain to the existing length.

2) I have read much about the universal swivels, and notwithinstanding some concerns I are going to try one out. Seems most advise is to use a traditional shackle to attach chain to anchor but use a length of chain one or two size larger and connects to the swivel just forward of the windlass. again appreciate your advise is this sounds right.

Thanks in advance;

I have a 3/8 BBB that has been welded. I am assured by the experts that a good weld is fine. Doesn't stop me being neurotic, but i will just keep an eye on it.

Neither of the following are recommended;

Let us know how you get on with the Manson Supreme. All my research seems to indicate that it and the Rocna are great anchors.
