Carolynn and I are planning to come as well - prefer after the show but we will likely be there before that to visit with friends who are going to the show. Not sure at this point if we will go to the Bahamas afterward, or just pick our way down the Keys.

Folks have expressed interest in a day after the show, so let's firm this up as Tuesday, 18 February. Location to be posted soon. The meeting room we were looking at is too pricy, so we may squat in a picnic area.

We have a location! (Thanks to Gerry, our local Miami rep)
We will gather on Feb 18th at Picnic Island near Dinner Key. Still to be determined is the start time and programs. If anyone has topics they would like to lead a discussion about, please speak up.
The location is good for a pot luck meal. Lunch would probably be the best choice, then we can depart the island and do dinners elsewhere, maybe in smaller groups?

Miami mini rendezvous - proposed schedule
I suggest we gather for potluck picnic lunch around noon. After lunch we can socialize, attempt boat tours via dinghy, bring show'n'tell items of interest, do presentations on laptops (at the Jacksonville meetup, we all managed to squeeze in to look at Myron's rudder redesign slides), and whatever else we can think of until it gets dark or we get hungry again. Looking forward to seeing you all!

Reconnoiter complete: Picnic Island looks great, no trash, clean. There is a dock but it is posted as "Pick up/drop off only, no docking", and it's a little rough. Nice sand beach next to the dock for easy landing. No grills on the island. No restrooms either. The tented area with picnic tables should provide plenty of room for everyone. The tiki hut nearby looks new but is smaller and has no tables/seating.
The mooring field is full at the moment but people will probably start to move on after the art show and boat show which are both this weekend.
