That time of year I would definitely take the ICW, assuming your mast is less than 63 feet and your keel is less than 5.5 feet. Otherwise you’ll have to go outside and hug the coast, ie within 5 miles. Good luck.

It's a Brewer 12.8. easy enough on the keel. But I understand the mast height is 64 feet. So just a touch more than 63.

I'm looking to pick up Skipper Bob's book for the east coast but the paper version is out of stock. I'm old, hate reading on a computer screen but I may just have to in this case.

You’ll probably be ok. You may just have to stop in a few places and wait for low tide and be prepared to wait if the waters are unusually high.

I'll try to be off-shore as much as weather permits. I've never been gone up the ditch, I guess once is OK... LOL but I'd really rather be in the ocean as you have said. I'm not sure however, how wise that is with a new, untested boat.

I would definitely use a router that time of year. Chris Parker is the go to.

Chris Parker is who I've heard to use. He offers three ways to get info: email, web and SSB. Have you used him before and do you have a recommendation as to which method seems to work best?

I like the SSB idea, but I'd almost have to get my radio license. Something that has been on my to-do list, but has not been done...

I may have a guy coming with me that has his license. I'll have to check. The boat has SSB capabilities.
