Deck Hatches: repair?

The clear lenses in all three of the deck hatches on our 1981 W42, Next Horizon, need to be replaced. Certainly, we could buy new hatches but that's a waste since the frames are fine. Have any of you found a source of lens material, either tempered glass or plastic, cut to the right size? Thanks for your help! Jim and Julie

Contact Maritime plastics in Eastport, MD. ( maritimeplastics.com/ 410.263.4424 ) They cut replacement lenses for our Bomar hatches. They used thicker and stronger 3/8" material and beveled the edge nicely to work with the frames. They can advise as to the use of acrylic or polycarbonate. Most importantly, they can provide the adhesive to glue the lenses into the frames. I spent several hours locating a vendor who would sell me two tubes of the proper adhesive. Most of the vendors deal in cases only! After Maritime cut the plastic, they asked if I needed some adhesive and would have saved me the time. I removed the lenses from the hatches and sent them to Maritime who cut and shipped the new ones back.

Can't find them on the internet. It is a very small company.

p.s. If the frames have much Magnesium content, welding is a problem. Hope frames are OK?
