I had hoped to finish the season with the old grunert system...I need to replace the brushes in the dc motor. Does anyone have a suggestion for a source for the brushes.

I have bought brushes from MARA Industrial Supply www.maraindustrial.com unfortunately I thought I was buying a pair and found out that they were sold EACH at $21. I also ordered from BALDOR industrial motors at $16 a pair but not received them yet. Try to goggle "dc motor brush E45". The brush is 1/4 X 3/4 X 7/8. I replaced mine last January and had to ssnd down the width a bit and am now buying a second spare set. Bill Eilers s/v Blue Prince

Hello
After working with many pieces of DC powered equipment and rebuilding many motors make sure of the hardness of the brushes and clean the commutator with a commutator stone and then blow out the dust tying to catch it in a HEPA vacuum cleaner.
Try to go to the motor manufacture and find out which brushes are used and then use those for longest life.
