Wilbur-Sarns Proplock - repair or replacement was created by Andrew Schoenberg
On the Whitby 42 we just bought, it came with a Wilbur-Sarns automatic proplock. I have come to find out that this company (in ME) no longer exists and there is very little information on the web regarding this important component of the propulsion system. What is recommended for repair / replacement of this system? I have been told that with the borg warner velvet drive on the 4D254 that you need something to lock the shaft otherwise you will burn out the tranny. What is recommended. We just had our tranny rebuilt and I don't want to go thru this again
Thanks

Simply adjust the prop lock to stop the shaft when the engine is shut down, thus no oil pressure to release the lock.
