folding prop? was created by rob birch
I am thinking about putting a folding prop on my whitby 42. We have a Perkins 4236 engine. Does anybody have any recommendations rergarding choice of prop (i was thinking a max prop), size or other related issues?

Many thanks in advance. rob birch

Rob, I am just catching up after overcoming some technical issues in responding! Have you received a number of pointers from other issues.

At the factory I was responsible for the first three installations of the Max prop 3 bladed. At that time the installations were first up and the only common denominator of problem we found was at that time (early eighties) the settings in the manual were one setting to harsh for the engine. My only memory bump is I cannot remember which engine we were partnering with as the Perkins, Lehman and Volvo were all being used. Sorry I cannot be more specific. In addition the only other alternative Prop that I have heard of being installed is the Variprop and if I remember correctly it is on Brian & Janes Whitby named Pilgrims Passage and I believe he is on this group or at Brian [brian@pilgrimspassages.com]
Hope this proves helpful, Douglas
