Replacing Alternator V-Belt was created by Kevin Taylor
Hi All,

It is time for me to replace the v-belt on my alternator. Unfortunately, I also have the engine-driven refrigeration compressor, which prevents direct removal of the the v-belt.

Are there any tips on the best way to get the v-belt off and back on with minimal disassembly? I'm thinking I should remove the 4 bolts on the compressor, remove the compressor belt, and then swap out the alternator belt.

Thanks in advance.

For those future Brewer 12.8 newbies who read this post, the trick that I found to replace the v-belt was simply to first remove the engine-driven refrigeration compressor belt by loosening the single bolt on the compressor's manual tensioner. (Some grunert installations may have a spring loaded tensioner.)
